Google Lit Trip!!

We are excited to make a Lit Trip for Suzanne Collin's The Hunger Games! There are so many underlying themes in this YAL novel that can be shown through our Lit Trip. We are going to try and convey several character relationships, symbols, themes, and of course locations(settings).

Using Google Earth we will use the picture of North America to re-create Panem. We can place all the districts in the correct locations and make a place for every important event in the novel. The Hunger Games is an excellent novel to do a Lit Trip, because it will actually be a helpful aid for people or students that really can't grasp the concept of the futuristic setting.

Mapping out the Capitol and District 12 will of course be the most important locations to add into our Lit Trip, but there are several other places we will be mapping out as well. We will map out the train ride from District 12 to the Capitol that Katniss must take. We can even map out the arena.

Of course, with every place on our Lit Trip map there will be an explanation or an underlying theme (or both) that we as readers experienced while reading the text. We will also try and include pictures that will, as accurately as possible, represent the images we "saw" in our head while reading the text.

Overall, this assignment is really exciting and with our collective love of The Hunger Games we believe we can construct an amazing Lit Trip that will contribute to students learning in the classroom or just for fun!
